Here at Forage we have a collection of three Postage Stamp Embroidery panels to choose from. Each project has a pattern booklet with design trace offs and instructions on required stitches. This evening class is designed for beginners/intermediate stitchers who want to learn some embroidery tricks and work on small motifs which can be completed easily to create a framable project.
Postage Stamp Embroidery evenings will be in Studio on Thursdays 6pm-8.30pm on: 11 June, 9 July, 10 September, 8 October, 5 November.
Beginners are welcome. Our class begins with a technique lesson where you'll work on a sampler and build a collection of techniques and embellishing ideas for your work.
Lara will go through the stitches used in the three Postage Stamp Sampler Panels and demonstrate some of the combinations you will be able to use. We'll go through designs, how they've been put together, and talk about ways you can add your own touches.
The first hour of the class will involve working on a particular embroidery technique or motif, then everyone will have time to work at their own pace
Materials:
Booking price includes 5 classes plus studio materials to share. You will need to purchase the patterns and the printed sampler linens. If you already have the patterns and linens, bring them along, otherwise they are $45 for the pattern/linen combination in our store. You will need embroidery scissors and a small (6") hoop, and some chenille 24 needles.
We have curated a collection of DMC threads in perfect colours for the projects which are available in our shop on the evening. Lara used Au Ver a Soie silk stranded threads for the original samplers. If you have these and want to use them, bring them along. We do have some sets for sale in our shop. If you have a collection of DMC stranded embroidery cotton you can bring that and use it.
Everyone will have access to our thread bar of perle 8 and stranded threads in the studio but will need their own to work at home.
After this there is time to work on your own choice of project in a small class environment. Feedback and help on your project will be given throughout - and we can also help you decide on a suitable pattern if it's time to start something new.
