Flea Market Item 26-284

These are a lovely group of 5 vintage Belding Corticelli wooden thread spools, two are still carrying a quantity of the original thread. They are American-made spools that were widely exported and sold internationally through haberdashery shops during the first half of the 20th century.

The Belding Corticelli Company was one of America’s best-known thread manufacturers. It was formed in 1898 through the merger of the Belding Brothers Silk Company and the Corticelli Silk Company, although both firms had been producing silk and sewing threads since the mid-19th century. Their products were renowned for consistent quality and were sold throughout North America and Europe.
