This is a charming little collection of antique buttons that captures the character of everyday French tailoring from the first half of the 20th century. The maker’s marks and mix of metals make them more interesting than ordinary vintage buttons, and they would fit beautifully into a collection of French sewing antiques or mercerie finds.

They date from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century from (c. 1890). They would have originally been used on men’s trousers, jackets, overalls and work uniforms, and many bear the names of Parisian button manufacturers.
