This is a beautiful example of fine machine-made insertion lace, most likely French, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century (c. 1895–1925).

The strip measures approximately 8.5 x 27cm long

This type of intricate pattern was particularly popular in northern France, especially around Calais and Caudry, where the Leavers lace industry flourished.

Its refined geometric motifs and exceptionally fine mesh are characteristic of the sophisticated lace produced for luxury undergarments and trousseau linens during the Belle Époque and Edwardian periods
