Dress-shaped pot holders such as this pair have become increasingly collectible because they evoke the cheerful, handmade aesthetic of mid-century kitchens. Their bright colours and excellent condition make them particularly attractive to collectors of vintage crochet and retro home décor.

They are worked in bright emerald green and cream cotton yarn, using a combination of shell stitches and scalloped edging to resemble frilly dresses. The loop at the neckline indicates they were designed to be hung on a kitchen wall when not in use.

They each measure approximately 20x13cm 

It is most likely that they date between 1955–1975. Less likely to be earlier than the 1940s, as the bold colours and novelty style are very characteristic of the post-war era.
