This is a beautiful example of French passementerie galon, a decorative braid woven from silk or rayon over a corded foundation. The repeating looped pattern, highlighted by the central gold cord, is characteristic of the elegant trimmings produced for the furnishing and fashion industries during the first half of the twentieth century.
Woven in soft ivory and champagne rayon with a central antique gold cord, its sculptural looping design reflects the refined elegance of the Art Deco era.
Dating from around the 1930s–1950s, it measures 240 x 2cm
Beautifully preserved, it celebrates the enduring tradition of French passementerie—where even the smallest embellishment was created with remarkable skill and attention to detail.
