These are a beautiful set of vintage French silk sewing threads,

The spools show the words Soies et Merceries (“Silks and Haberdashery”), a common designation on French thread labels. The blue emblem printed on the spool ends resembles the trademarks used by several French silk-thread manufacturers.

This weight of thread was commonly used for:
