These are a matched pair of antique cotton tape-lace appliqués, most likely French, dating from approximately 1890–1920.
They measure 27 x 9.5cm each.
They feature:
• Narrow woven cotton tape shaped into floral and scrolling designs.
• A fine hand-worked needle lace filling joining the tape elements.
• Decorative mesh fillings within the petals and paisley motifs.
• Mirror-image construction, indicating they were intended to be used as a pair.
This technique is often called tape lace or Renaissance lace (dentelle Renaissance in France).
The style strongly suggests the Belle Époque to Edwardian period, 1900–1915
