Item 26-019 Scissor Event

The open central shank and slender proportions are very typical of Continental European embroidery scissors produced around the turn of the twentieth century.It is the sort of scissor often found in better sewing sets and needlework companions.

These were designed for:

• Embroidery

• Whitework

• Lace making

• Fine sewing

• Thread trimming

The narrow blades and very sharp points would allow close cutting around stitches.

This appears to be a well-made working tool:

• Fine blade geometry.

• Adjustable screw pivot.

• Elegant proportions.

• Forged rather than cheaply stamped construction.

The indicators are:

• Long, fine needle-like points.

• Open elongated shank below the pivot.

• Screw pivot rather than a simple rivet.

• Symmetrical, refined construction.

• Small size suitable for embroidery work.
