The mark appears to read “A. KRUSIUS” (or possibly “A. KRUSIUS / KRUSIUS A.” depending on orientation).

The Krusius name is associated with the German cutlery trade, particularly the Solingen region, which was one of Europe’s major centres for fine scissors and edged tools.

The design is characteristic of early twentieth-century German embroidery and sewing scissors:

 Long, fine blades.

 Slim forged shanks.

 Screw-adjusted pivot.

Functional rather than highly decorative design.

 Precision construction.

The long, narrow blades (14cm long) are designed for accurate thread cutting. These would have been sold as:

 Embroidery scissors.

 Needlework scissors.

 Fine sewing scissors.

 Whitework and lacework scissors.

This appears to be a quality working tool rather than a novelty item.

Features suggesting this include:

 Proper tension-adjusting screw.

 Fine blade geometry.

 Named maker.

 Solingen-style construction.

The condition appears quite good:

 Maker’s mark remains legible.

 Screw pivot intact.

 Blade tips complete.

 Minor surface oxidation only.

 Good overall alignment.

DATE

Based on both the mark and the style an estimated date is:

c. 1890–1925
