The style is typical of the late Victorian to Edwardian period, when decorative needlework tools were extremely popular.
The elongated teardrop handles, pierced central ornament, and fine embroidery blades are all features commonly associated with French mercerie scissors.
The narrow, sharply pointed blades are designed to reach close to stitches without damaging surrounding fabric. These were almost certainly made for:
• Embroidery
• Whitework
• Lace making
• Fine sewing
• Thread clipping
The scissors are 9.5cm long and appear to be in good collector condition:
• Original screw pivot present
• Fine points intact
• Openwork decoration complete
• Moderate age patina
• No visible repairs
