This pair of wonderful vintage (50+ years old) carry handles, were traditionally used by greengrocers, butchers and other shopkeepers.
They would wrap their customers packages in paper and tie with string to secure them, and these carry handles were then offered as a way for the customer to comfortably carry their parcel home.
The printed font denotes the purveyor who supplied the goods.
They would be lovely to use for hanging your delicate sewing project or your lace ribbon collection on the wall. Simply stitch ribbon to each handle end and laying your project over the centre.
