In this special Francophiles' Slow Stitching Series of workshops, all of the vintage and antique materials we will be working with have been exclusively sourced from the flea markets and brocantes we frequent when in France. If the photos here get your heart racing, this class is for you!
The series of classes will be based around embellishing on a beautiful old “serviette à pain”. The serviette à pain, also known as a “baker’s couche”, is a professional-grade, heavy linen cloth (approximately 90 x 75cm) used specifically to support and separate shaped loaves (like baguettes) while they rise.
Level: The class is suitable for advanced Slow Stitchers who are serious lovers of antique French textiles.
Each month we will use some decorative themes which reflect the parts of French culture that we love. You will be encouraged to follow your own creative path while using the class themes as inspiration.
The price includes a full kit of materials including a "serviette
à pain, metis mouchoirs, laces, buttons, a collection of antique fabrics and more, in your choice of warm or cool colours. The kit will be posted to you before the first class.
You'll need your basic sewing kit, threads, and of course any French textile treasures you've collected and would like to include.
Location: Via Zoom at 8am Sydney time for approximately one hour (recordings will be available after the class)
Dates: The classes will be held on Sundays at 8am Sydney time: 19 July, 16 August, 20 September, 18 October, 15 November
