This panel is a very fine example of late 19th to early 20th century whitework lace insertion — most likely a combination of needle-run net lace and delicate broderie anglaise-style embroidery on sheer cotton or linen.

The workmanship is exceptionally refined — especially the tiny scale of the net and the padded embroidery. The slightly irregular handmade quality of the mesh motifs suggests genuine handwork rather than later machine lace.
