A very special piece of handmade lace work, still in excellent condition considering its age.
This is known as “revival lace” and was produced c. 1880-1920 in France for collars, cuffs and decorative linens.
It is based on Venetian designs that were originally made in the 17th century, which is how it got the name “revival lace”.
This fragment measures approximately 40 x 20cm.
Found in France.
