Flea Market Item - Friand Tin Fancies 7

Included are two reels of beautifully soft sea-green sewing thread, a traditional metal thimble, an original card of approximately two dozen small dark mother-of-pearl or shell buttons, and a particularly pretty pair of square diamante buckles.

The buttons have wonderful subtle flashes of iridescent colour, while the sparkling paste-set buckles were most likely intended as decorative dress or lingerie trimmings. Together with the original paper-labelled threads, they make an evocative little group of old dressmaking supplies. We would broadly date the contents to around the 1930s–50s.

A beautiful collection for a lover of vintage haberdashery, textile work or for incorporating individual pieces into slow stitching projects.
