Pair of Vintage Whitework Linen Handkerchiefs 

c.1920s–40s

A lovely matching pair of fine white linen handkerchiefs which measure approximately 36cm square. 

Each is decorated in one corner with delicate white-on-white hand embroidery. The design features stylised bows, small flowers and leaves worked predominantly in satin and outline stitches, with tiny eyelet details. Rows of drawn-thread work provide an elegant openwork border.

Composition: Fine linen with cotton embroidery thread.

A particularly pretty example of traditional whitework. Some gentle age-related marks may be present.
