Antique Whitework & Lace Garment Panel 

c.1900–1920

A beautiful Edwardian-era garment panel measuring approximately 60x48cm, most likely from a fine chemise, nightdress or undergarment. Made from very fine white cotton lawn, it is lavishly inset with 6 panels of several styles of decorative lace, including floral Schiffli-style embroidered lace and striking circular wheel motifs with delicate needleworked centres.

The variety and quantity of lace make this particularly appealing as a salvage textile rather than simply a fragment of clothing. There is some age-related wear and discolouration, consistent with its age.
