A beautiful length of vintage black floral lace measuring 80x14cm. 

It most likely dates from early 20th century, featuring raised, satin-stitched flower motifs worked over a fine machine-made net ground. The lace has been finished along both edges with a wide black satin or rayon ribbon, suggesting it may once have been used as a decorative garment trimming, possibly from mourning or evening wear.

The combination of delicate net, dimensional embroidery and lustrous ribbon gives it wonderful texture for slow stitching, textile collage or restoration work. There is some fraying and wear consistent with age, particularly at the ends.
