Vintage Aurora Borealis Rhinestone Buttons

A sparkling matching pair of vintage buttons, probably dating from the 1950s–60s, which were found in France. 

Each measures approximately 3 cm across and features a large clear faceted centre stone surrounded by two rows of smaller Aurora Borealis rhinestones, giving beautiful flashes of pink, blue, green and gold.

The stones are set into an ornate gold-tone base-metal setting, with a raised, dimensional construction typical of mid-century costume jewellery-style buttons. Some gentle wear and tarnishing to the metal is consistent with age.
