Antique Corded Lace Appliqué

A pair of matching antique lace appliqué, probably dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, with an elegant scrolling foliate design. 

The motif combines fine open net-like fillings with prominent raised cordonnet outlines, giving the piece wonderful texture and definition. Approximately 20 cm long.

Composition: Most likely cotton or linen thread.

Special details: The raised corded outlines and variety of intricate filling stitches suggest a lace made to imitate the luxurious look of Point de Venise/Venetian-style lace.
