Vintage French “Le Fil” Press Studs – Original Haberdashery Card

A fabulous piece of French vintage mercerie: an original display card of “Le Fil” metal press studs (boutons pression), still attached to their wonderfully decorative blue, turquoise and gold printed card.

The card is marked “Ressort Spécial – Article Supérieur Inoxydable – Fabrication Française”, indicating a superior-quality, rust-resistant French-made fastening.

There are 36 press studs, arranged as six little detachable cards of six. 

The elaborate typography and Art Deco-influenced printed packaging make this just as appealing as a piece of old French graphic design as it is as haberdashery.

Date: approximately 1930s–1940s, possibly extending into the early 1950s. The packaging design and typography strongly suggest pre- or early post-war French mercerie stock.

Condition: Excellent vintage display condition. The press studs appear unused and remain attached to the original card. There is some expected age and wear to the cardboard, which adds to its character.
