Vintage Blush Pink Embroidered Appliqué Set — c.1930s–1950s
A very pretty group of vintage lingerie or dressmaking appliqués in a wonderfully soft blush-pink colour. The set comprises one large, shaped decorative panel together with two smaller floral motifs, all designed to be appliquéd onto a garment or fine household textile.
The large piece measures 30cm and is particularly attractive, with sweeping Art Deco-influenced curves, open ladder-work edging and a central five-petalled flower embroidered in a contrasting champagne-beige thread. Small eyelet details decorate the outer sections.
The two smaller separate motifs measure 9cm and feature stylised roses and foliage, one worked entirely in pink and the other embellished with touches of pale blue-grey embroidery.
The lustrous thread and delicate colour combination are very characteristic of decorative trimmings used for lingerie, nightwear, dressing gowns and boudoir textiles during the 1930s–50s. They may originally have been sold by a mercerie for home dressmaking.
