August French Fabric Selection I

This is a delightful piece of novelty children’s print cotton, dating to approximately the late 1920s through the 1940s. Fabrics with playful illustrations like this were produced for children’s clothing, nursery furnishings and quilting, and they are increasingly sought after by collectors because they capture the charming graphic style of the interwar years.

Textured piece

This is a lovely example of a monochromatic jacquard damask furnishing textile, probably woven in France or Belgium between 1890 and 1930. Although only a small remnant remains, it displays the quality and elegance associated with decorative textiles used in well-appointed homes during the late Victorian and Belle Époque periods.

The fabric is woven in a rich golden ochre or antique wheat colour with a lustrous finish that catches the light beautifully. Rather than being printed, the design is created entirely through the weave, producing a subtle play between matte and satin surfaces.

It measures 60x30cm 

Floral 

This is a handsome example of a Victorian or early 20th-century roller-printed furnishing cotton, probably dating from about 1880–1915. The design has many of the characteristics associated with late Victorian decorative textiles, combining bold stylised florals with intricate engraved printing.

The fabric features a warm camel or golden-tan ground densely speckled with tiny dots, creating depth and the illusion of texture. Printed across the surface are large stylised flowers and dramatic foliage.
