Take a Simple Shape

In "Take a Simple Shape", Lisa Mattock will guide you through the process of making a unique slow stitched project using textile scraps, simple embroidery techniques and embellishments. This project will be your own unique piece, and you'll need to make three simple decisions to set you on your way.

Make a beautiful one of a kind project by learning new techniques using new and old foraged materials. Meet with us and learn via 5 live zoom classes with Lisa Mattock and Lara Moo who will guide you through the process and techniques as well as giving you the opportunity to see what others in the class are doing. Recordings of the classes will be permanently available for you to refer back to.

1. When you sign up you'll receive some introduction videos which explain how to prepare for the first online class
2. In the mail you'll receive a printed linen sampler. (Postage is included in the class price) You'll receive technique instructions for this in the live classes and build up a video technique library to use on your project and in the future
3. You'll have access to 5 live zoom classes where you can look at other students' progress and show your own. You'll get advice on your work, learn new techniques and progress through the project.

FAQ:

WHEN WILL MY SAMPLER BE SENT? Your sampler will be posted within a day or two of signing up. IMPORTANT: Please make sure your mailing address is correct on our Shopify store.  This is the address your linen sampler will be posted to. You will not be charged extra for postage of the sampler.

WHEN ARE THE LIVE CLASSES? Dates of the Zoom classes in 2026 are 21st March, 25th April, 30th May, 27th June and 18th July.  They will commence at 8am Sydney time. A reminder and time conversion will be emailed each month.

CAN I START AFTER THE FIRST CLASS?Yes you can.  Recordings of all of the live zoom classes will be made permanently available.

HOW WILL I REMEMBER THE TECHNIQUES? Individual videos of all 15 techniques will be available for you to refer back to in the Technique Library you'll build up.  This will enable you to practice on the sampler and use them in your finished project.

WHAT MATERIALS WILL I NEED? You will be able to use a lot of foraged materials from your stash if you have them. The introductory video will explain how to do this and what you'll be looking for.  We have items on the Forage website which will also be perfect for this project to 'fill in the gaps' and we'll give you a link to them.

IMPORTANT:  Please make sure the address in your Shop or Forage Shopfy account is correct. This is where your sampler will be posted to.
