Velvet with Cotton Stitching - Item 23501

A truly unique textile treasure from the past. 

It was found in France, but we suspect that that’s not where it originated. 

The black cloth is a very worn velvet and the stitching is in a cotton thread. 

Last pic shows the original colours - they were so vibrant! 

It measures 55x45cm and it would be wonderful if it’s next custodian can find a specialist framer to help with preservation for the years ahead….
