Shell Buttons - Item 23435

Star and oval shaped shell buttons. 

Found in France. 

Some research we’ve done suggests that these may have been manufactured by a company in Les Arcs named M.Gueze who produced buttons like these from the 1930’s onward. 

Instead of using pearl oysters, which had become rare, button-makers substituted Haliotidae shells (or ormer, also called “ear shells”), trochus shells and turban snails (also called marbled turban).
