Measures 70cmx6cm (35cm length of each colour)

This piece comes from a dealer in France who specializes in antique (100+ years) cloth and embroidery. 

The black and red pieces are still stitched together, with the hessian backing still in tact.
It was suggested that they may have been made as samples for traveling salesmen. 

There are signs of age like fading.
